Hello world! It’s been awhile… Sorry about that… I didn’t mean to ignore this blog (again) but I did… It’s a sad but unfortunate truth. I’m going to make a concerted effort to actually write in this more consistently, if for no other reason than to start teaching myself discipline; something I’m REALLY terrible at practicing.
So here’s a somewhat brief update on my life:
I’M A DADDY! – My son, we’ll call him Bug (until he’s old enough to choose his own nickname), is seriously awesome. He’s a great kid. He was born on April 11th and has completely rocked our worlds. I couldn’t as for anything better. He loves to smile at people all around him. He loves putting his fingers in his mouth and he really likes snuggling with mommy and daddy.
I’m doing a lot more web development. Like A LOT. My office is slowly transitioning me to a web development position. And I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been doing a lot of random updates on my company website and it’s been working out really well. Because I’m doing so much more web development, I’ve decided to start diving more into the guts of wordpress. I’d really like to get to the point where I can replace my income from my current job w/ web development projects. You may see some posts on here relating to my adventures in wordpress and php.
I’ve been acting more. I’ve started doing community theater again and I LOVE IT!!! Seriously. I have SO much fun performing on stage. I’ve met so many great people in the theater community here in Spokane. It’s been awesome. Some shows that I’ve been in include: A Christmas Carol (as Scrooge’s nephew Fred), Frost/Nixon (as one of the title characters David Frost) and my favorite show that I’ve been in to date: RENT (I was just in the chorus but it was an honor to perform in such a great show – It was the musical that got me into doing theater in high school in the first place).
I’m currently doing a show called “Oh Horrors, It’s Murder” with a group called Old Orchard Theatre. It’s a fun dinner theatre type show that’s going towards a great cause. Proceeds from the show go towards a scholarship fund for families of the Green Bluff Grange. I really like doing theatre and doing it for a great cause is awesome.
Now that I’m a daddy, I don’t know when my next theatre show will be after Oh Horrors gets finished but I can’t wait! Theatre just takes more planning and discussion now than it did before. Having a kid will definitely mean less shows but I would much rather be a daddy and do fewer shows, than not be a daddy at all.
I’m going to church again. There was a time where I wasn’t really going to church. Our last church home left a bad taste in our mouth for church. Don’t get me wrong, I never doubted my faith, just wasn’t all that in to church. Which is unfortunate. We have since found a great church that I really enjoy and my better half seems to enjoy it too. I’ve even started leading worship there again. It’s been great.
Overall, I’m in a much better place now than I have been for a long time. I have an amazing family and a wonderful life here in Spokane. I feel like I have purpose again. Make no mistake, I am not staying stagnant. I am committed to bettering myself and bettering the lives of those around me. That’s all that’s going on in my life right now. What’s going on in yours?
