After about 18 months, I finally got myself a new phone. At the time that I upgraded to a smart phone it was the Droid Incredible which was listed as one of the BEST Android phones out at the time. I was sorely disappointed after a few months however with the phones performace. But that has all changed.
I got myself one if the newest/more awesome phones: The Samsung Galaxy S3. This is the first time I’ve ever been able to get a “top of the line” device. Ever. Whether that be a phone, computer part or what have you. It’s nice to be on the cutting edge of technology for once :).
I, of course, had the full blessing of my lady to move forward with making the purchase. We consulted our budget and figured that this was a great month for me to get a new phone. The timing worked out very well.
I am truly in love with this phone. I’ve been using the Droid Incredible for the last year and while it has served me well, it was definitely starting to show its age. My biggest complaint was how little time I had on battery with my phone (usually by noon, I’d be at around 50% battery with it just sitting there doing nothing).
I was also frustrated with being stuck using Gingerbread. It’s a decent OS but when you compare it to what Android came out with in Ice Cream Sandwich and now Jellybean, I couldn’t help but feeling very left behind. I know there are ICS ROM’s out there for the Droid Incredible but they were a bit too buggy for my taste.
The S3, blows my Droid Incredible away in all aspects. It’s got more internal storage, more RAM, a MUCH bigger screen, as well as 4G LTE and a dual-core processor. All of these make for a beast of a machine.
My biggest surprise has been how decent the camera is. That was one of my other complaints about the Droid Incredible: the camera was terrible. At the time that I got the Droid Incredible, that was true of all Android phones. That definitely is not the case now. The phone takes incredible photos, very comparable to the latest iPhone’s.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with my purchase. If you’re due for an upgrade, and can afford it, get the Samsung Galaxy S3. It’s a great piece of technology that brings a lot of value for me. I don’t know of any other phone that could be a better fit for me right now.
